Amidst the lockdown, a number of FMCG companies have tied up with delivery partners such as #swiggy #zomato, dunzo etc. The most recent tie-up that has come into the news is that of Hershey’s India with Swiggy and Dunzo, wherein a wide range of Hershey’s products will be delivered to the shopper’s doorsteps in select cities. Hershey’s India seems to have picked up the pulse of the growing trend of #quarantinebakers as people crave for their favourite #chocolate desserts.
While this move may bring America’s favourite chocolate brand closer to it’s Indian customers, Hershey’s India still has a lot to achieve in it’s distribution and product strategy.
One such product category is the Chocolate Spread. The Chocolate Spread industry, although a small ~100 crore market, sees market dominance by one of it’s rivals – the coveted – Nutella. It has a 90% market share in the Chocolate Spread market. Hershey’s chocolate spread that competes in the same price range as Nutella, does have a mighty enemy to beat.
