With the advent of #Alternate Investments in the Indian Market, #Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) is gaining popularity amongst Investors.
From buying out #commercial office and retail assets, the focus is also gradually shifting to consolidating their assets into REITs.
Blackstone along with Embassy Group launched India’s first REIT in 2019, and then, the former partnered K Raheja Corp to list the Mindspace REIT last year.
After the success of these REITs in Indian markets, retail participation is also on the rise, followed by foreign investors and major PE players entering the real estate market, which is relatively untapped.
Large MNCs are looking to expand their domestic footprint over the coming years. This augurs well for the future of office space demand in the country, and for the REITs investing in this segment.
Although Covid-19 is a major hurdle for the real estate sector, investors and analysts stay bullish on the long term sentiment for office spaces and the demand of real estate.
